Periodic Polygraph Tests
The polygraph is used to determine the general honesty of existing employees periodically in an effort to distinguish between deceptive and honest employees. In most cases 70% of candidates are found to be non-deceptive and 30% deceptive. This type of lie detector test is used in different businesses and has proven to be very effective in shrinkage control.
Typical questions in a periodic assessment will be as follows:
- During the past 3 months, did you help or assist anyone to steal anything from this business?
- During the past 3 months, did you steal anything worth more than R100.00 from this business?
- During the past 3 months, did you see anyone steal anything from this business and did not report it?
- During the past 3 months, did you receive any money or rewards for anything that was stolen from this business?
